Objective
The “First Meeting of Ministers and High-Level Authorities on the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in the Americas” provides the ideal opportunity, with the participation of Ministers of Agriculture from the region, to explore what this task signifies with respect to a particular sector.
The overall objective of this session will be to discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in the agriculture sector and for food and nutrition security in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The results of this reflection will furthermore contribute to the development of a Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction in Agriculture and for Food and Nutrition Security in Latin America and the Caribbean which will be supported by FAO in the framework of pillar 4 of CELAC’s Plan for Food and Nutrition Security and Hunger Eradication 2025.
