YOUTH AND DISASTER RISK REDUCTION (RRD)

Youth are a vital part of our communities. If that's you, keep on reading!

Young people offer a fresh perspective as they understand and recognize that the actions of individuals and communities can help reduce the impact of disasters and improve resilience. They want to participate fully and effectively in their communities, and to be included in important policy decisions.

Become a Change Agent to reduce disaster risk reduction!

Here is what you can do to have your voice heard in policy discussions impacting your communities and countries::

YOUTH VIDEO CHALLENGE

Showcase your work and you could be invited by UNISDR to attend the Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas to be held in Canada

More and more, youth are being recognized for their ability to provide fresh perspectives on policy discussions impacting their communities and countries. That is why the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) is offering youth between the ages of 18-34 an opportunity to develop a short video demonstrating how to build disaster risk reduction in their communities.

If you are between the ages of 18-34 and live in the Americas, you can participate in a Youth Video Challenge by submitting a 30-60 second video responding to the following question:

How would you improve disaster risk reduction in your community? You can help influence policies that impact livelihoods.

You can contribute to the safety of your community by raising awareness on disaster risk reduction (DRR). You, yes you! You can#BeaDRRChangeAgent.
