UN Secretary-General: World threatened by dangerous and unacceptable levels of risk from disasters
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today warned that “growing global inequality, increasing exposure to natural hazards, rapid urbanization and the overconsumption of energy and natural resources threaten to drive risk to dangerous and unpredictable levels with systemic global impacts.”
About our office
The New York Liaison Office focuses its efforts on engaging with Member States and other New York based actors to promote disaster risk reduction within the global/UN policy agenda.
Our activities
Our activities range from monitoring key processes and contributing to meetings within the UN system to liaising with representatives of Member States of the UN and specialized agencies in New York.
