CONTEXT
The Handbook offers a general overview of various issues related to reducing disaster risk, and is primarily designed for the leaders of local governments and policy makers to support public policy, decision making and organization for the implementation of actions for disaster risk reduction and resilience. The document provides the essential steps for making cities safer and more resilient in order to achieve sustainable development. These steps are based on the "Ten Essentials for Making Cities Resilient" established in the Global Campaign "Making Cities Resilient: My City is getting ready!"
