The Coalition for the Resilience of Children and Youth in Latin America and the Caribbean - CORELAC invites you to the Ignite Stage: Earthquake Youth Led Digital Mapping

Thursday, March 9 - 12:00 p.m. - 12:20 p.m.

Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas.

Palais des Congrés of Montreal

In this space, the young Ecuadorian Lourdes Escobar will present the experience of empowering young

people through the implementation of the "Voices of Youth Maps" tool in Esmeraldas, impact zone of the

Ecuador earthquake of 2016. This is an initiative implemented by the UNICEF and RET International

offices in Ecuador, which allowed adolescents and young people to identify the risk, while at the same time

making visible their realities, challenges and opportunities through the use of technology; seeking to raise

awareness of the issues that concerned them. With this app the young people could gather information

through photographs, using smartphones with GPS system.

The event will have simultaneous translation in French, English and Spanish.

We invite you to check https://pr17/ignite-stage.html where you will find details of this and the other

presentations of the Ignite Stage.
