Dosquebradas, Colombia, is a town exposed to multiple risk factors associated to natural hazards and anthropic events. The city has been affected by major events that have caused both destruction of infrastructure and, regrettably, the loss of human lives. In this context, the municipality of Dosquebradas has been working for several years to reduce the risk of disaster through the implementation of sound risk management policies and practices.

Currently the Mayor Jorge Ramos Diego Castaño, one and a half years into his government period, is determined to strengthen the disaster risk management area. In this regard, his administration is confident the resilient cities campaign offers possibilities to step up efforts aimed at building sustainable territories through structured planning processes that enable risk reduction in our town.
