“While assessing and informing about hydrometeorological hazards, I realized that if the community did not know how to face them, those warnings were ineffective and insufficient to reduce their impact once materialized. Thus my interest in Disaster Risk Management finding in the Global Campaign “Making Cities Resilient” the fundamental tools to achieve the objectives of the Hyogo and Sendai Frameworks. My goal as Campaign Advocate is to create awareness among communities and local governments about the need to become resilient through adequate preparation, in order to reduce vulnerability and to mitigate the impact of disasters within a framework of sustainable development”.
