I am excited to dedicate my life both voluntarily and professionally to improve the lives of people, strengthen the human capacity for resilience and to be able to save lives in the most adverse moments. The construction of resilience has to start with the promotion of awareness and strategic prioritization as a factor governing urban social life, and not as a secondary issue.

Promoting resilient cities is to help the leaders perform their work on issues that do not have a presence on the agenda, for which reason this crusade is paramount to raise awareness in order to prioritize these issues in an integrated and holistic manner.

My experience at the national and international level is that resilience is being tested at the time of the emergency, but must be constructed previously, channeling resources proportionately to the risk and not only as a gesture of humanity.

My personal motivation in this matter comes from a Hebrew precept of “Tikun Olam”, which is the Hebrew way of saying “our world needs to be repaired in many ways, and it is our responsibility to do it”. I've dedicated my life to community activism and humanitarian aid, because I believe that the best way to contribute to improving the lives of the people is by leadership and example, transferring the best practices and the best ideas so that they may be replicated.

I believe that risk management should also be understood as a sustainable, productive and profitable opportunity; a point from which to access human and material resources that allow us to consolidate the practice of disaster risk management.

I was also motivated by the fact of knowing that a job well done and the results obtained in the past and present gives me a very encouraging outlook for the future.

It's time to be creative and innovative, and I mean not only with the introduction of new technologies, but also in the design of new methodologies and processes that involve the whole society in a transversal way.

At the end of the road, it is all worth it because “saving one life is like saving the whole world.”
