The Resilient Cities: My City is Getting Ready campaign, driven by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction UNISDR, with its programs for improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations,  has inspired me and made me committed to motivate and advocate for more districts of my country to become Resilient.

The involvement of Mayors is valuable and I consider that it is the local governments that should encourage communities to participate in disaster preparedness programs. As Advocate of the Resilient Cities Campaign, my interest will be reflected in that through awareness and training workshops on issues related to disaster risk reduction in Peru, the local governments and population will be motivated to apply the SINAGERD (National System for Disaster Risk Management) law approved by the government of Peru in 2011 at the national level.

Peru has initiated exchanges between provincial mayors, who have shown an interest in participating in disaster risk reduction programs through the Resilient Cities Campaign, registering their local governments in the campaign. Others who are already registered are in the process of reporting on their progress in relation to the 10 Essentials in order to launch their cities as resilient and thus comply with the campaign, with the hope that in 2015, we can achieve as a country this mission that has been entrusted to me.
