The IGNITE Stage is a special venue where WCDRR participants are allowed 15 minutes to present a disaster risk reduction topic, project or initiative. Its aim is to widen the array of topics that are discussed at the World Conference beyond those that are presented in the main sessions and events.
The IGNITE stage will be open from 12:00 to 18:00 on March 14, 10:00 to 18:00 on March 15, 16 and 17, and 10:00 to 12:00 on March 18, 2015.
Applications will be accepted from December 1 until December 31, 2014. Applications will be judged by a jury based on their originality and relevance to current and future global DRR efforts. Accepted speakers will be notified on January 15, 2015. Talks should be classified into one of the following categories:
- DRR success stories
- Public-Private partnerships
- Local action and urban DRR
- Innovation and new knowledge
- Award winning projects
- Collaborative efforts and social solutions
- Lessons learned and mistakes made
- DRR after 2015
IGNITE stage presentations are an opportunity to create interest among the audience on your work and foster further discussions:
- They should not cover every detail of your activity.
- The audience you'll be addressing will already be aware of the "big picture".
- Presentations should focus on specific and innovative cases, issues, stories, problems, and solutions.
Speaking slots are 15 minutes long including setup and questions. The time limit will be strictly enforced.
UNDRR provides a computer with PowerPoint, Windows media player and a projector. Please bring your presentation or video on a USB stick.
All presentations will be recorded on video and published on the WCDRR website, the UNDRR YouTube channel and on PreventionWeb. Previous IGNITE presentations can be seen at:http://www.preventionweb.net/globalplatform/2013/programme/ignitestage
Please note that applications for the IGNITE stage are only accepted from accredited delegates of the WCDRR.
