One of the purposes that demonstrates the territorial effort of municipality of Palmira, led by Dr. José Ritter López Peña, is to promote the sense of transformation in the way social actors assume behaviors that lead to increase the capacity of collective resilience against the risk of disasters.
Consequently, the Global Campaign "Making Cities Resilient" becomes into a main strategy addressed to delineate the local agenda for complete risk management, opportunity that has resulted in strengthening the processes of readiness, organization and planning, laying the groundwork to implement an approach to risk reduction as an essential element of the full exercise of rights and duties of citizens.
It is noteworthy that the elected mayor of Palmyra for the period 2016-2019, Dr. Jairo Ortega Samboni, incorporated within the structural aspects of his government program, the implementation of the Resilient Cities Campaing, which ensures continuity of the advances reached to date in the process.
